Week 2: Thing 3 - On My Way

Welcome to my blog. I will be making entries as I learn new tools on the web and I will share any insights I gain along the way. So far, I'm tickled to see all the interesting gadgets I can add to my blog. Thank you to everyone who has developed and shared these gadgets!

I have viewed the tutorial about the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners and want to share the habit that I find the most difficult and the habit that is easiest for me. From the list of habits:

Habit 1: Begin with the end in mind
Habit 2: Accept responsibility for your own learning
Habit 3: View problems as challenges
Habit 4: Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner
Habit 5: Create your own learning toolbox
Habit 6: Use technology to your advantage
Habit 7: Teach/mentor others
Habit 7 ½: Play

I find Habit 1: Begin with the end in mind to be the most difficult. I like to gather a lot of information before I make a judgment or a commitment, so it is hard for me to commit to a goal when I think things might change. I was reassured that I can update my goals if I need to during this course, so I boldly wrote my goal of finishing all 23 assignments before the end of this school year.

The easiest habit for me is Habit 7 1/2: Play. I am playful by nature and don't really know how to stop playing. I find it easiest to try new things and take on new challenges when they are in the context of play. The stakes don't seem so high and I don't have a sense of success or failure at the outset of an endeavor.

  1. Welcome to the 2.0 journey. You are well on your way. I too found the constraints of formatting a bit frustrating since I was used to doing everything in html and getting to look just the way I wanted it. Eventually you get used to it (or resigned to it). I totally did my 23 things out of order, so don't worry about it. We trust that you will eventually hit on all of them and take what you want and need from the experience. Bon voyage.
